Starting an Airbnb Business in Kenya
Airbnb has become very popular in Kenya, mostly in the urban areas. It has sort of replaced hotels and other accommodation. This is due to the simple fact that they are affordable and can be booked easily, unlike hotels where you’d have to queue for months to even get a room. So many people are investing in having Airbnb, which has yielded successful returns. It works for both property owners who rent or lease their property, and hosts who lease the property from the owners and then rent to their clients. The peak season for Airbnb in Kenya is when major events are happening, e.g., the annual Safari rally in Naivasha, and during the sunny seasons when there are a lot of local and international tourists, especially on the Coast. During these seasons, most people tend to look for such accommodation and it is easy to profit from it as an entrepreneur/investor.
